Default Knock when the brakes are about 80% press in ....

I'll try to describe the best I can. It all started sometime last fall, I would pull the car somewhere and during the first time you press on the brakes you will hear a knock under the engine bay, just right before the pedel is fully pressed in. This happeans only once in a while.

Couple months passed the knock occurs everytime you are in gear and you press the brake pedel(again, right before pedel is fully pressed in). It also knocks one time only when I turn. But this one time I was getting up a drive way and it would knock everytime I got to the incline, my buddy laid down and tried to figure out where the knock was coming from. He said that it sounded like something was hitting the sway bar, but could not see anything. I'm not convinced its the sway bar, I think its something with the brakes.....whats your thoughts?

Please, any help is appreciated. If no one can help me, I'll bring it into a shop and see what they can do, but I'm kinda paranoid those guys might take my car for a joyride.

It ALSO knocks when I turn, but only once.

The knock is like someone tapped a metal bar to your lower firewall.

then it could be related to the sway bar.

Check the caliper bolts. Maybe one came out. A buddy of mine had that happen to him, and yeah... every time he hit the brakes, he'd get a clunk from one of the wheels.

Alternatively, see if you can reproduce it while the car's up on jacks or a lift. Jack the car up, give the wheel a spin, and push the brake pedal. That would make it easier to pinpoint the location (especially with the help of a friend who's willing to lay under the car while testing).

Yea, I'll check my bolts to make sure I eliminate them out of the problem. If worst comes to worst I'll try to put her on jack stands, my only fear is that the wheels will become suspended and will not produce that noise as I'm sure it has something to do with the front wheels having to roll/spin as well.

jyeung528, can you explain why it might have something to do with the sway bar, cause I dont know.

I'm sorry, your avatar has me distracted. Had the same problem on another car and it was a loose caliper bolt.
