There is absolutely no issue with jacking up the S2000 in the middle of the car. I've done this to many S2000's including mine countless numbers of time. Do not however jack up the car infront of the front jack point. It is not reinforced there and it will dent the fender.

I've used or owned many different aluminum jacks including the $600 Brunnhoelzl floor jack and the Snap-on one and I currently own a Costco one (not the one that they currently sell. Mine has the two front side wheels and dual pistons). I am very happy with it, especially at the $100 price point. It's just as sturdy and works just as well. Actually, it's the only one of the three that will actually fit under the side of my car. I had the low height Harbor Freight one before and got rid of it because the front single wheel kept on jamming up.

Your talking about jacking the car up right under the middle of the door area? Is that area reinforced?

Or cut the angles a bit more acute... i.e. more horizontal run to the same amount of rise
Yeah, that'd probably work. I think I cut mine at a 45 degree angle. That's pretty steep.

I would never recommend a crappy universal floor jack, made by costco, pep boys/ autozone, or harbor freight jack to anyone. i made the mistake of using one and it blew... luckily without hurting me or something really important on my car like the diff. it only caused cosmetic damage.

^ That's why I have six 3 ton jackstands.

I have the same question as others, what part of the car is that?

Exactly, you should never even be in a situation where a car will fall on you if a jack fails.

thats the jack stand points, in front of the rear tire and behind the front. i had the front up on stands and was working my way around the back when the jack piston blew, it wasnt dramatic... but enough so to unsettle the jack stands a bit and cause some cosmetic damage.
