When I first start my car the "Maint Req'd" light blinks several times then goes out. I have a little over 13,000 miles on the car so I don't know if this is a sign to worry about or if it is a "reminder" for regular maintence schedules. Did I overlook something in the manual, is there a real problem, is it a reminder or is this normal and I never really noticed until now?

That could be true...I hadn't actually tried to reset mine yet!!

 

The S 2000 owners year 2000 manual was incorrect, and the 2001 manual got it right. You have to hold down the reset button while starting the car, not before.

I just went over 15,000 miles and I noticed around 13,800 that the "Maintenance Req'd" light would come on for a few seconds and then go out. As I approached 15k, it lasted longer and longer until finally around 14,800 miles it stayed on continuously. I guess it was designed to be a gradual reminder.

 

I know this isn't a S2000 but my moms 98 accord will do the same thing and then stay on to remind her about the maintence interval. Like the 15K then the 30K and so on. Where the dealer checks brakes fluids changes the oil etc.
