wow. fuel cap functional... haha.

I'm an emissions inspector for the state of georgia. Trust me, it's really not all that big of a deal, you failed the fuel cap test.

All that is happening is the cap is being pressure tested, to make sure it can hold pressure on the tank. The majority of failing fuel caps DO NOT set any DTCs. The pressure test we run on caps is much more rigorous than the one your car runs on itself. (ours is a much higher pressure and for an extended period of time). There are two parts of a gas cap that can fail, the rubber seal inside, and a spring loaded clip. Since Honda caps don't have the spring loaded clip, you're looking at the rubber seal.

Do one of two things: flip the rubber seal around and try again using the other side of the seal. A lot of times, that'll do the trick. Worst comes to worst, buy a new fuel cap.

There's nothing wrong with your car. A lot of times, fuel will get all over the filler, and then you'll put the cap on. When that happens, fuel gets all over the rubber seal, and a lot of times can cause premature deterioration of the rubber.

Dont sweat it man, it's a $5 fix at your local parts store.
