For those of you warning against quick shifts:

When you accelerate to redline in 1st and shift, do you wait the full second it takes for the RPM to drop enough to shift into 2nd smoothly? Are you recommending that we avoid shifting quickly into the next gear and rather allowing the engine to match the revs that will be seen at the bottom of the next gear?

Or, are you warning against slamming the shifter into gear with excessive force?

The Warning is against forcing the shifter into gear with excessive force. "Banging" gears will damage the transmission. It's the difference between precision and ham-fisted shifting.
The correct shift sequence can be compared to a waltz ("one-two-three") beat. One: the clutch goes fully to the floor; Two: move the shifter out of gear and into neutral; Three: move the shifter into the next gear in line (don't ever skip gears). This can be done with lightning fast speed without having to force anything. The ham-fisted technique is to jam it straight from one gear to another, in one movement - which really doesn't speed anything up (but it can screw things up).

For note: I have an AP2 trans in my AP1 and have no problem with 9000RPM upshifts. Pausing is not necessary - with a warmed-up transmission.
