Default No crank problem please help!

Car is a 2000 Honda S2000 with 72,000 miles on it. bought it used a month ago.

Ive driven it about 20 times since buying it without a hitch.
Went to warm it up for my commute(30 degrees outside) to work this morning and she wouldnt crank. now its not a dead battery, i had full voltage and the voltage drop wasn't significant to merit that conclusion.

I couldn't hear the starter solenoid activate at all. What could be my problem?

Thanks in advance,
Andrew

There is a switch on the clutch pedal that prevents cranking unless the clutch is fully depressed.

Some people unplug that switch and jumper the connector so that they can start the car (in neutral) without pressing the clutch - prevents wear on the engine thrust bearings.

So if the switch is connected, either you didn't push the clutch in all the way or the switch is mis-adjusted.
If the switch has been disconnected and bypassed, then the jumper wire that was used may not be making a good connection.

I have the same problem, starter gets stuck in cold weather, hit the starter a couple of time with a wrench, its below the intake manifold by the firewall, or just tap around that area it should start up. Sometimes just sitting there shifting the gearbox in place with the clutch in, do it a little rough and it might work, I just tap my starter and it starts.

Is that a common problem for the S2000? ive owned many cars and never had that happen. but then again i guess anything is possible. ill try starting it when i get home since it will be "thawed" .

It only happends with me when its cold. below 35*. The s2000 is known to grind the starter when its very cold on start up. Mine has gotten to a point where it gets stuck.

I thought that grinding what just the starter not retracting quickly enough. I don't see how that would ever prevent the engine from turning over.

Am I wrong here?

Well heres an update, my brother is trouble shooting it at home. he said he "tapped" on the starter and tightened some ground straps on the bottom of the engine and the starter spun for about .25 of a second then cut out again. I told him to check the strap on the back of the cylinder head and he said that it looks very corroded and melted almost.

input?
