No EPS - Attempting to Diagnose Problem
Alright. Fuse is good.
Now I am getting 2 codes.
DTC: 13 A problem with average of voltage for torque sensor VT1 and VT2
DTC: 14 Open or short to body ground in the torque sensor circuit
I didn't believe it until I went back and looked at my video.
Yes. I unbolted both of the ground bolts (both sides) and wire brushed them to be certain.

Is the ground wire from the steering rack (near the middle) connected to the cross member?
Yes. I unbolted both of the ground bolts (both sides) and wire brushed them to be certain.
If you're sure all the connectors were plugged in when you got the 2 codes, then check the resistance from ground to each of the 3 wires (running from the 14-pin plug to the TS plug) that you tested end to end. Should be infinity with the TS unplugged.
Then with both ends still unplugged, on the TS end of the cable test the resistance between pin 1 and 2, pin 1 and 3, and pin 2 and 3. All three should be infinity. These are the DTC 14 trouble shooting steps on the first page, the second page (step 9) you already performed.
One more thing to test - check resistance from any pin on the TS to ground.

FIXED! for now...
Alright. So before I did what you suggested above, I thought I'd give the 'clear the DTC' a shot.
The directions are:
After removing the paperclip and starting up the car, the EPS Light is OFF!!!! Finally!
In summary:
Now, with my EPS light off; it's time to put everything back together.
One final question/concern. Do I have to initiate a EPS reset (turning the wheel 45 degrees a few times)?
I would also like to thank Jim who spent a significant amount of his own time to help me troubleshoot this. He even sent me a private PM letting me know he was stepping out for a few hours. I told him this same thing - it's people like him that really keep this community going. So thanks to all of you.
Have a great weekend,
Matt
Alright. So before I did what you suggested above, I thought I'd give the 'clear the DTC' a shot.
The directions are:
- short the OBDII sensor (pin 4 and 9 w/ paper clip)
- press brake pedal
- turn ignition on
- ABS light will go off
- release brake
- ABS light will come on
- press brake
- ABS will blink twice
After removing the paperclip and starting up the car, the EPS Light is OFF!!!! Finally!
In summary:
- I verified all wires and electrical components were good
- I unbolted the main ground attached to the steering rack
- wire brushed both sides and the areas in which it bolts too
- I also reseated the TS plug
- I think this is important because of 2 reasons.
- It never actually 'clicked' when i would plug in during my testing
- The last time I plugged it in, it clicked. It was loud enough to hear and noticable enough for me to take note. I actually said, "wow, I don't think that ever clicked before..."
- I think this is important because of 2 reasons.
- Reseated the inline fuse that is mounted in the fender. (I removed the small fuse box for the EPS and EVAP)
- Everything looked good in my fendor
- The fuse was intact.
- No moisture and very little dust
- Removed a small amount of water from the steering rack plug
- I did this on day 1 so I doubt that this had very much to do with it, but it could have.
Now, with my EPS light off; it's time to put everything back together.

If the EPS light is off, the only thing you might have to do is set the center position.
Test the steering to see if the assist is even when turning the wheel each way from straight ahead, and if it is not even, then do the relearn procedure.

Hey everyone I'm also having some issues with EPS and I thought I'd just bump this thread instead of starting a new one.
When I do the paper clip, I'm getting 5 short blinks followed by 3 long then 2 short. then it repeats. I'm confused as to this is referring to codes 35 and 2, or 5 and 32. Can anyone help me out?
EPS codes -
DTC: 2 Fail-safe relay stuck ON
DTC: 5 Open to body ground in the motor circuit
DTC: 32 A problem with the main current sensor offset
DTC: 35 A problem with the sub-microcomputer
