Also Vtec isn't engaging (but it will still rev to 9k)

The owner says he was doing 131mph at 8k in 5th gear, pushed it the clutch after letting off and it stalled and the CEL and oil light came on. Havent checked the code yet but any help would be appreciated, Thanks
The best help anyone here could give is to tell the owner/your boss to stop being stupid. The car is giving warning signs to not drive it anywhere but to a mechanic and he beats on it instead. Brilliant

Yeah with it flickering and only being on at very low rpm it seemed like an electrical issue.

The rear diff temp light in the GFs STi would flicker only at certain points as well. We checked the fluid and all was good. Turns out we just needed to clean and tightern the little sensor on the diff housing. ;-)

Glad you caught it before he trashed(auctioned) a nice car.

Doubting its electrical if v-tec isn't engaging. You seem certain its not low on oil so my bet would be on the pump. Still definitely wouldn't drive it till you have the real problem fixed.

If you are the mechanic then you should already know to hook up an oil pressure gauge and get actual pressure readings to tell if the engines pressure is low or if the idiot light is failing.

If the light is on at low RPM, it's probably because there is less pressure at idle. If there is a faulty pump, or shot bearing clearance, it shows up most noticeably at idle. You need an oil pressure gauge hooked to the engine. Pressurize the oil switch off the car to the correct pressure and see how it reacts. Stop guessing.
