Default Noise after starting engine

So I recently serviced the car for the first time with a friend, during checking it all over, we discovered a vacuum hose that was not attached. As shown in the photo below, the red arrow pointing to the lower of the 2 tubes.

Since reconnecting it, when starting the car cold, there is a strange noise that seems to happen for around a minute.

I made a video showing it, the noise cuts out in the video at around 1 min 5 seconds.

I have seen in the manual that there is an emissions thing that runs for about a minute, as shown here:~

So is this the noise it is supposed to make or is this why the previous owner removed the vacuum pipe? Just to kill the noise? As its only an emissions thing.

So I tested out, taking the bottom vacuum hose off just after starting the car, and sure enough the sound stops the instant I remove that hose.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AK8y...ature=youtu.be

So either, thats the noise its supposed to make? or I need a new part?

Can anyone advise?

More than likely your hearing your air pump system. It’s normal. However, I canned my air pump system so it took me a minute to remember the sound.

Yeah the air pump makes a really annoying noise, but at least it's only when engine is cold.
I'm a bit surprised you didn't get a CEL when running with that hose disconnected though.
On euro cars the pump and lots of other stuff can be removed and replaced with just a 12ohm resistor, if you get more problems with it for example

Yeah its a pretty horrible noise ha
That is a good point, wondering what the PO has done to stop the CEL coming on.
Thanks for the link! Was struggling to find much info on this noise.
