Default Oil Change

Hi guys,

Just bougt myself my first AP1 s2000.

I need to do an oil change. The previous owner has been using Castrol Edge 5w40.

I'm thinking of sticking with the same oil spec, since is one of the recommended oils from Honda.

According to your experiences, which of these 2 oils would better :
- Castrol Edge Titanium 5w40.
MOTUL 8100 X-Cess 5W-40MOTUL 8100 X-Cess 5W-40MOTUL 8100 X-Cess 5W-40
- Motul 8100 X-Cess 5w40.

Thanks all
Rui

I see no issues with using Castro Edge 5W-40. Use OEM Honda oil filter and change at appropriate mileage intervals. You'll be good to go.

Go 30 weight.
Free up some horse power.
Need even more horse power: tighten the throttle cable to almost-no-slack.

Mobil is fine. I have been using it in my race car for the past 6 years. Not a prob. Also use a denso or oem filter.

I highly recommend the Motul X-Cess 5w40. Greatly reduced engine oil consumption, and i've tried almost every motor oil out there.

You get what you pay for. The cheaper the oil the shorter the interval. I use cheap Mobil 1 and change oil very often. Heard of guys running high dollar like Amsoil and tripling their interval, verified with lab tests.

There isn't a linear correlation connecting price to interval.

Check BITOG. There are members there running extended intervals on the Walmart store brand synthetic blend with great results (Supertech, or something like that).
