Oil Drain LEAK! Is it the fumoto's fault, or mine?
Okay, So I came home today and backed out the S to fit my bike in the garage, and theres oil drops on the floor!! I had just changed the oil and installed a Fumoto Drain Valve in place of the oem drain plug about 2-3 weeks ago. Fumoto claims to not have any leaks, but i found this thread where someone had the same problem.
The leak is coming out because it had unscrewed and became loose. When I installed it I tighted it as much as I could by hand, with and extra umph with a wrench.
It has the standard fumoto composite washers on there too, could that be a problem?
What the heck did I do wrong? And what can I do to fix it?
Thanks.

I'd put some Permatex non-hardening gasket goop on clean threads - or some blue threadlocker. Since you will not be removing the valve a lot, it should not be an issue, but either will allow easy removal should you decide to dump the Fumoto.

I had the same problem with my fumoto valve. Tightening by hand seemed to be "not enough."
I fixed it by whipping out the wrench and turning that thing an entire revolution until it stoppped dripping. I know the directions said not to do that, and that I might strip some threads, but it just wasn't going to be tight until I did that. Been fine for 3 weeks. no leaks.

Sorry, but hand tightening is never going to do a decent job wiht this kind of stuff...you need to use a wrench. You just can't torque it to the same specs as the original drain bolt.
