Default oil leak/gasket questions

Earlier today when I was pumping gas I popped my hood to check my oil level (about a month or less ago I was running ectremly low on oil but I got lucky and i didn't starve my engine so now I check my oil A LOT.) Well I popped my hood to see a puddle of oil at the bottom of my car and my oil filter and surrounding areas cover in oil, I checked my oil level and it was low, well I looked around and I think the leak is coming from some place from the vtec solenoid or maybe my valve cover. I'm not even sure what to do anymore at this point with this car. I want to get all new gaskets to fix the leak. Now my questions, how many gaskets does the v tec solenoid have? Is it just 2? How many gaskets does the entire engine have that could be leaking in that area? If I were to put a new valve cover gaskets and vtec solenoid gaskets would that most likely fix the leak?

Thanks for any input

oil filter has a lil gasket in it.. check that too...

but in that area... oil filter gasket, vtec sol gasket, valve cover gasket... every that de-attach from the block/head has a gasket in that area...

edit: I've read a lot of cases of loose oil filter... double check that too

For the oil filter, is the gaskets your talking about the one that comes already on the oil filter when you buy then new? I usually always buy the sales on oil that they have on autozone and it comes with a bosche filter, its the round gaskets that's on it right? And it might be a loose oil filter too because I always tigten them with a belt, I need to buy me the right tool. But I'm sure its something else because because the oil is on the solenoid too

Do you know for a fact that all that leaked oil is a recent episode or has it been there for a while. Some S2000 heads were very porous and oil seeped out through the metal and accumulated over months and years.
If it's something recent, then it could be related to the oil filter. If you don't oil the new gasket, it's possible the filter could unscrew a bit. A properly oil gasket on a new filter will generally not back off even with strong hand force. If you didn't check the engine for the possibility of the old filter gasket being stuck there, then you put on the new filter and you have 2 gaskets there. This will NEVER seal and it'll leak like crazy. It can even squirt upwards, covering stuff above it making it look like something else is leaking.
If you don't know how long that leaked oil has been there, wait for the engine to cool down, spray the whole area with WD-40, give it a wipe with a rag as best you can, hose it down with hot water and check it periodically to see where the oil leak begins. THEN get the appropriate gasket to fix the problem.

Im sure it leaked today because in the morning I took the 3 bolts off the top of the v tec solenoid to see if my gasket was good because I had a very minor oil leak before but it was very minor, so I took that off and checked my gasket and it seemed good so I put the 3 bolts back on, and left the car there then I drove it 10 minutes to church and it sat there through mass for about an hour, then afterwards I drove 5 minutes to a gas station and thats where I saw it completly soaked in oil and I immidiatly drove it home staying under 3k rpms
