but nothing else. The guy at autozone thought it might be a tune up notice. 31k miles. I am going to the dealer tomorrow for the spark plug recall anyways, but I was trying to make sure they don't fu** with me or my wallet while i am there.
Allow the guy at Autozone to extract the code. Beyond that, he most likely knows nothing. If a CEL is present, a code can be recovered. This is an indication that a sensor has detected something wrong. The code will tell you what.

This "tune up notice" is what we call the "MAINT R'QUIRED" indicator and is a light on the dash that will light up after so many miles after the last time it was reset. It is to remind you to check your records to see what maintenance interval your car might be at and to do the appropriate MAINTENANCE.
Contrary to what some people have thought. You DO NOT need to freak out when the "MAINT R'QUIRED" light comes on. Your car will NOT explode nor does it require immediate attention. You do NOT need to pull over to the side of the road and call a tow truck.

thanks for the info. went to the dealer for the plug recall, told him about the check engine light. he wanted 95 bucks to run a "diagnostics test" told him to forget it and do the plugs, and if it was still on I would look into it. picked up my car no check engine light. good to go.

thanks
