Piecing together a turbo kit
if you were to piece together a turbo kit over a couple of months what whould you use
im looking for a complete list, id be running a aem ems( hear way to much good stuff about it not to use it)
id like to get opinions on what to use, ie what turbo and what size and specs( car will be a daily driver kind off)
what manifold, etc, and if you guys have an idea of prices that be cool to, i want to get it in piecies cuz i hear to many stories of guys that buy kit but end replacing piece after piece and spend money that they dont need to spend,a dn im not into wasting money
thanks alot for any and all help

If you need other people to tell you what to buy to "piece together" a turbo kit, then I think that is a good clue that you shouldn't "piece together" anything.
Why don't you go to Barnes & Noble and buy Maximum Boost by Corkey Bell and read it from cover to cover to educate yourself before you do something stupid.

Unless u have extensive experience or know someone who has extensive experience or have a lot of time & money, I would not recommend u to DIY ur turbo kit.
From experience, even a bolt on turbo kit can be a hand full......

It can be done though. I built my own turbo kit myself on my last car. The only thing I didn't make was the manifold. I made everything else, charge pipes, intercooler, oil lines, fuel lines, down pipe, etc.
With that being said, I also destroyed my motor. I left too much slack in the oil return line and it had dropped below the protective plastic piece on my car. Then I ran over a semi re-tread on the highway and it knocked the oil line loose. By the time I got to work, my oil lamp came on and it was too late by then. My main bearings were oil starved and they were damaged. I destroyed the rings also.
It was a very good lesson learned. The rest of the turbo kit was pretty good. But simple rookie mistakes will kill you. I am very confident I could build my own turbo kit for the S2000, but I remember how much of a pain in the a$$ is was to tune and keep running correctly. So this time, I'm going with a supercharger instead.

If you are only looking for 300-350 then I think it would be worth your money to just get a supercharger kit. You will spend a good deal on the odds and ends of finishing a turbo kit, and in the end a Vortech or Comptech kit may be just as much.

I'm curious about this as well. Although, I've already got most of my parts. All I'm lacking now is an intercooler/piping. My installer suggests air/liquid, but I'm not so sure. I'd really like to get a kit made for our car though, because getting the piping made doesn't sound like too much fun. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

sfr racing or something sells just the intercooler and piping for the s2000 but its like $1500 Do a web search for s2000 intercooler and there site will be one of the sites listed. Or you could go to home depot and buy lincoln techs $200 welders kit buy the intercooler alone and buy all the piping and elbows seperate, have fun and wear a cool looking mask and still have 500 bucks in your pocket.
