Default planning on getting the jdm f20

i am planning on buying another engine since mine is going bad. ive been lookin for motors and i found that the jdm motors are around the same price as the usdm motors.

1. what i want to know is wat is the difference other then the HP and higher compression?

2. will it pass emissions? because the guys at hmotors said all i need to do is use my usdm intake manifold. is that true?

3. can i run the usdm ecu and pass emissions? or do i need the jdm?

4. can i do this and pass it with no problems?

i am from new england and we have 93 octane.

thanks!

The USDM ECU is mapped for the lower compression US motor so I would image you'd be running the motor out of tune.

I would just avoid it, since its possible it could just cause you more problems than you thought. Way easier and simple to get a USDM engine and drop in.

Lots of headaches for 15hp. I'd put the time into producing that much power from an USDM motor.

im running one with no problems. even passed smog when i got the car.

of course, i bought the car with the JDM motor in it already so i didnt have to deal with the headache of making things work.

If you plan on staying N/A and you don't plan on building the motor, then yeah go for it. If you're plan on boosting or building the motor, then just buy a USDM.
