Default Popping/Cracking after turning off hot engine

Good evening/morning fellow S2K'rs! I don't believe anything to be wrong, but I would like to have some reassurance. Is it normal after your car is fully heated to make popping/cracking sounds? Not a whole lot of noise but you can def hear ticks etc. No liquid is draining down on anything hot, I assume this is just heated materials cooling off and shrinking? I have no clue lol. Thanks guys v-tec on! Also, I think this is the best place for posting, best of my knowledge anyway. Don't flame please

ok, ill try not to flame, but its simple physics...once you shut the car off, all the metal begins to cool off...cooling metal equals constricting metal which gives you the ticking/popping sounds

There is a relay that makes a definite loud popping sound about 10 seconds after you shut down the engine. I can't remember which one it is, but you can't miss the sound.

Normal. It all depends on the car, weather, and engine temp over time. You will hear differences in the same car at different times and differences between cars of the same model.

Sometimes it creaks, sometimes it pops, sometimes it sounds like a clock, sometimes like a pine cone on a tin roof. You may even hear A/C condensed water hissing as it drips on something hot. Perhaps even the sleeping dog in the garage you ran over will make noise.

Lol, I was pretty sure that it was the cooling of metals like I mentioned in thread. Just seems to do it an awful lot which suggests perhaps really hot temps or rapid cooling. TY all
