unless you took it off wheres the plastic bushing that goes on the ball end of the shift lever? also i would clean all that gunk out. get a friend and some brake clean spray in there while you have a friend suck out the residue while your spraying in there. but put the car on jack stands in the front as high as you safely can go so you don't get it inside the transmission.

the reason it is most likely having reverse lock out problems isn't because the lock out isn't working but the shifter is actually remaining down like if you reverse out of a parking spot or your driveway at the beginning of your drive and its getting stuck because of all that gunk that you've been cleaning out of there with what looks like a screwdriver. that plastic collar on the shifter needs to be free of debris so it can slide up and down freely to return out of shift lock. like I said before clean all that in there spot less(be very anal) and make it look new and use some grease on the plastic collar and also the bushing on the ball end if you have that even and you should be good to go.

might be too worn to work. i would source a new one from somewhere but you may only be able to find it at honda. keep us updated I'm pretty sure how dirty it is and not lubed properly is your cause.

I will need to buy new shift lever, becouse ball at the end is worn, as a result of shifting without plastic bushing. It is only temporarily fixed with something like liquid metal so for now plastic bushing is keeping on his place.
I hope that it will be solution for my problem, however after reading post by Growler above, not sure. When I drive a car first time on the day, first cca 30 min it shift quite smoothly, include reverse, I can shift to reverse like knife thru butter( after little pushing shift lever down). So on this time everything works perfect. Then it disappear and I can move shifter whole way to right and in this mode sometimes I have problem shift to reverse.

Hi just curious if you sorted this problem. I'm still having issues when hot but haven't looked at it again since. Planning to strip it in the next few weeks in preparation for springtime

Hi
After few weeks of waiting for my parts, it was delivered, so I could change it. I did it yesterday. Everything new, and result? I am not happy. Shifting is better( more precise), however reverse lock does not work at all. Still thinking where could be a problem. Soon I post photo of old parts.

I find where was a problem. New shift lever and the plastic part came apart. My mechanic put the plastic piece on shift lever in reverse. As a result, the protrusion was directed to oposite side and as result the reverse lock did not work . Now it works.
I guess, disfunction was as result damaged protrusion (see photo here http://s1138.photobu.../Shift%20lever/ ), probably due to corrosion.
