Default PSA: Easier Way to Remove Engine Start Button

Noticed that my the engine "Start" button light burned out (AP1's and AP2's should have it illuminated).

Most thread say you have to take out the dash to remove the button and to service the light.

I was able to remove the button just by unclipping it from under the dash.

You'll have to contort yourself to get a good view but the goal to the squeeze the metal, gold-ish colored table on the side of the button. You can see it just peeking out from the fascia. You can either squeeze it hard or put a thin plastic tool into the tab. It is the only thing keeping the Start button connected to the dash.

This is the tab you need to push. There is a bump on the other side of the housing that helps align the button but you do not need to squeeze it. While pushing the button out, it helps to angle it slightly towards the driver's door.
Next to the service hold to replace the bulb is the housing tab. You don't need to mess with it.

While holding down that metal tab pretty hard, the button popped out without much pressure.

All that's left is to disconnect the cable.

Man, mine has never been illuminated and I was always too lazy to change the bulb. This is easy enough. Looks like I'll finally change it.

You know, I never notice whether it lights up.

Hmm...

There's a rubber coating over the bulb that tints the light. Easy to remove. I took it off, makes it brighter.
