Default Quick question on Vortech installation

Can any Vortech experts give me a quick answer to this question?

I have nearly completed the installation of the Vortech SC kit on my car (see thread http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.p...threadid=149249 ). I only need to insatall the electronics and fuel pump and I'm finished, the problem is I need to turn the car around in the garage to get access to the rear and the drivers side.

As I've said everything else is connected, can I start the car and drive it?

I don't intend to go "VTEC" in the drive so will it be safe?

I don't want to blow up the engine at this stage!

it should be safe to do so as long as you keep it brief, not wide open throttle and below 4krpm.
Good luck.

I started it last night! No problems, didn't go over 3000RPM, let it warm up and turned it around in the garage.

As far as I can see there are no leaks so far but the SC makes more noise than I expected.

Is this normal in the beggining?

It's a sort of grinding noise, I wish I could see the oil flow to make sure it's OK. I did notice when I rotated the SC pulley by hand that it made this sort of noise so I hope it gets a little more quiet over time.

LOL, me too. The Comptech makes a kind of intermittent rattling noise noise at idle. I believe this is due to straight cut gears or something. I was under the impression the Vortech had quieter gearing.

I guess you could disconnect the oil drain and crank the engine for a second but I expect that would be messy.

But if you did everything correctly you should be alright.

Actually just disconnect the oil drain and check for oil in it. As it's new the pipe would be clean if oil wasn't being pumped through it.

As for the noise this is normal tooo.
You have a very nice setup there. I like the polish kit on silverstone colour.
