Read your manual's recommendation on diff oil again.. and again... and again

Thanks for all your input..

So I checked my shop book (the big blue Honda one) and it said to use any GL5 or GL6 SAE 90 gear oil. So I assume what I got was SAE 75?

Is the LE-607 availible at a typical autoparts store?

I have put Mobil1 75W90 to the ultimate test. It's protection in this dif is incredible.

I use it on every single one of my customers.

In my experience, LE607 causes sticking of the torsen unit, resulting in clunking in low speed sharp turns. This is not however something to worry about. It's still a great product.

So then I assume that I'm just paranoid. Billman250, are you familiar with this humming noise? Maybe I didn't top off the fluid to the proper level, I just put in 7/8ths of the bottle and was done with it.

my old ap1 had this noise, but after swapping out the fluid(607) at around 35k miles, it went away, and stayed away til i traded it in at 48k miles.

when i bought my 06 w/4 miles, it made the same noise. very deep growl hum at super slow speed turns. i dealed with it until i changed the diff fluid out at 5k mile to LE607. i'm now at 9700 miles, and the diff is still as quiet as the day i changed the fluid. i'm in love with LE607!

No, you got a multiweight oil.
Honda recommends a single weight.
Why?
Probably because it uses less ink in the manual

With every mechanical device one needs to take the proper warm-up period into consideration.
If you're worried about your diff at -11F you should also worrie (a lot more IMO) about your engine at -11F and think twice about your choice in engine oil.

Cold had nothing to do with it. It will do it when it's 75 degrees out. Like I said, it's not a cause for concern.
