ok i loosened, and re-torqued to 220.. i still get a POP when starting from a stop/roll

what else could it be?

I experience this when i first got my S a few years ago. the sypmtoms you are describing are very similar...I tried describing the popping sound to the dealer when i had this and they mentioned it was all fine and normal... A few weeks after the dealer gave me a clear, i was left stranded on the freeway...dealer said i had broken my axle. I Never heard pop sound again, once the axle was repaired.

haha...because you used a broken torque wrench and barely torqued the axle nut about 20 lbs/ft...
