Regrease shifter DIY
#171
I just did this same maintenance job yesterday actually. Changed all the same parts and also don't forget the foam insulation piece that surrounds the shifter. I've had 3 S2000s and had no idea this even existed until I did the job on this car. The foam turns into this play-doh-esque type material and falls apart. I had to vacuum it out. The part number for that is 74699-S2A-000. I'm going to post my step-by-step on what I did with part numbers and all in my thread in the automotive builds section later today. Also, I put the pivot ball in a cup of boiling water for 10 minutes before popping it on to the shifter and it snapped in like butter.

I'm wondering if this helps with the reverse engagement?
I don't have issues with any of the forward gears. But man... more often than not, getting into Reverse is like a workout sometimes.
Shifter was recently regreased by the previous owner but unknown if the plastic pieces were replaced, thanks!

Another recommendation I learned here is to put it into 1st gear, and when the clutch pedal still pushed in, then go into Reverse. My reverse was always a pain, as are many others, I have been doing this trick for years and get into Reverse super easy.
Not sure why this works but it does.

I was just wondering if there's a remedy for the reverse. Cause uhh... 3-point turn gives me some serious anxiety with this car, hahaha.
