Default removing crank pulley when engine is out of car

For those of you who have installed a s/c know what a PITA removing the crank pulley from the motor can be. While taking my motor out, I forgot to loosen the crank pulley while the engine was bolted to the car, now that it is out its even more of a headache to get off.

Does anybody have any reccomendations on how to get this sucker off? So far ive tried putting a breaker bar on the socket wrench and the crank pulley removal tool and its not working the slightest bit. Do you think that blasting with 200 ft lbs with a compressor would be enough to break it free?

TIA

try a impact wrench, since you already have air compressor hooked up

the worst case undo the tranny, put a fry bar on the flywheel(sound scary but not really) teeth and yank it off.

no biggie, just takes time

As long as you have the crank pulley remover you should be able to remove it with breaker bars and some extra help. Shouldn't matter if it's the car or not.

We removed one from a engine on a mount. Wasn't as easy but the removal was the same. Set it up so the breaker bars are going down not up.

I had a 1/2 drive Matco 3' long breaker bar. I snapped it off trying to take out the crank pulley bolt.

I'd try 3/4 drive, but a good impact gun should do it.

I tired 150 ft pounds with and without the pulley removal tool (the removal tool does not make a diff. when using an impact) and had no luck.

Im going to try the method s2k tuner mentioned with a friend later on

you need an IR-2135 impact gun. 1,000 lbs-ft of torque.

a coworker and i "adjusted" the shop air pressure to 210psi.
but where i work, we use 3/4 guns almost as often as we use our 1/2s.
i love my 2135. not a single nut/bolt on any car that i have come across can withstand the 2135.
my friend always calls me to bring over my gun when hes working on his motor.
IR-2153.....get it. that crank bolt wont stand a chance.
