Default Right rear "clunks" going over bumps

Hi,

I just bought an 03, light blue with blue interior and 41K miles on it. I have a question about the spring spacers. I found one on each side of the rear and have removed them, and understand the problems they can cause with handling, but I am curious as to any damage they can cause. I ask because the right rear seems to make a loud "clunk" going over potholes. It's much more noticeable than the left side. I tried pushing down rapidly on the left rear and it seems to make a "sqishy" sound. Any ideas on what's going on there? Would the spacers cause a problem like this?

thanks...

nick

spacers are the rubber strips in the springs for shipping, supposed to be removed by dealer, but mine weren't found one in each rear spring. I think there are 4 in each front and 2 in each back spring from the factory.

turns out i have a blown shock in the right rear and that is wht is causing the "clunk"... not sure if the spacers caused it or not...

MY02 driver side rear clunks going over bumps. I have a blown shock also. I actually just got an oem replacement today. I bought it from Hornyphil on here. I just bought the driver side, so he might still have the passenger side. Only charged me $35 shipped for the strut! Good deal! About the spacers, I have no idea!

humm, blown shock, i wonder if that's my case. Kind of hard to tell if just one is blown. That sound started after i hit a curb pretty hard and F-up the left rear of my car. What's the best way to check if you have one blown shock?

^^ Well my shock leaked all over the place. Its been like that for a month or so and the clunking got worse. Just do a visual inspection first and see if any are leaking.

ah... that was the first thing I checked would have been a lot cheaper...

I didn't notice any leaking, but the dealer did. If I wasn't mechaically retarded, I would have tried replacing it myself...
