Default Running an Electric Water Pump?

Looking to install an electric water pump on my race car due to the weight savings and potential small hp gain, has any one ran one of these with success? The engine is putting out 275hp (crank) with minimal mods as it's endurance spec and just want a bit more power without effecting relability...
Tried searching the forum but couldn't find anyone actually running one, any help would be much appreciated!

Just googled "electric water pump automotive"
I'm not using it.

Wouldn't the energy consumption be the same?
Mechanical vs electric...
Mechanical has one efficiency factor less: fuel to pump vs fuel to electric to pump?

Just asking.

alot of v8 guys run electric pumps, they usually pick up around 10-15.

I would expect at least that much on our cars, probably more

Yeah had a look at that one, just wanted to have a guinea pig thats already used it to see if it will work as well as the stock one...lol

Not sure of the savings/gains it will make but after browsing the net and the forum it seems there is anywhere from 3hp to 20hp to be had!!..lol

Id say 3-4hp would be a good gain if it works as it should, although as you say, the extra drag from the alternator to power the thing may negate any benefits from doing away with the drag from the stock Impeller.

Although I think there should be a weight advantage as I plan to remove the complete water pump/ housing assembly and get a blanking plate manufactured.

Thanks for the help!

Just out of genuine interest, why would our cars pick up more power over the V8's,
More drag at higher revs?

As the engine spends 95% of its life at 6000rpm upwards this could be a good advantage...

a v8 water pump only has to work good from idle to 5000-6000 rpms, ours has to work good to 9000 rpms.. somewhere in there its not working well and sucking up more power than needbe

the electronic water pumps work with great success, all of the supercharged science of speed kits use it with their aftercooler setups with no problems.

reason i know is i just installed one on my buddie's 04 ap2 and it came out great.

call science of speed and see what they recommend to you.
