SANDING HEADLIGHTS
Hi guys...
Well, replacing the amber diffusers went array and now I need to wetsand my lenses.
They are taken apart and I will be doing both front and back of both lenses.
To those that have done it:
How did you do it? What grits did you use? Any tips?

I'd start off with 800. I would then move to 1200, 1400, 1800, 2000. After that, I would use an aluminum mag polish (Mother's has one). What you're trying to do each time is make the scratches from the sand paper, finer & finer. By the time you get to the metal polish, it should look like brand new again.
Good luck!
Edit: Oh yeah, the back won't need it. Only the front. You ARE getting a hazing problem right? Just the front will be fine.

Sand paper seems to be extreme... If you have a porter cable, use your most agressive pad and plastic polish on the outside of the lens.
here are some before after pics and what I used.

Lol, you guys are hilarious.
Would the sanding process be more difficult than a Porter Cable? I am in the same predicament ang have a lot of small scratches and indents from small rocks on my headlights and the headlights are not 100% clear.
