Default Setting timing with a timing light?

OK, the service manual has a process to connect to the service loop (done) but there is a step that states "Jump the SCS line with the HDS"

Can anyone tell me how to do this without an HDS? (Honda Diag System)

I need to check the timing to poperly configure AEM EMS

Pin 9 (brown) on the DLC and ground. DLC Pin 4 (black) works for the ground.

If you've got the EMS plugged in I don't think It's going to have any effect though. The SCS forces the PCM to base timing at idle.
