I thought MT90 was the heavy stuff (90W) and MTL was what we were supposed to use. Am I wrong?!

I have tried most of the lubes mentioned on the board. RL MT90 is the heaviest of the bunch but it is not 90W, it is has a protection rating of 75W90 and pours like a 30W. It may be a bit too heavy for cold weather (below 40F) use but I think it is best of all for hot (better than the GM stuff IMO). I think it will hold up better at the track and I find it resists the grind better than the rest in hot conditions. I really don't know what the service life would be (I guess as long as any) because I change pretty often.

So what are you going to use this winter? I know you had a bad experience with RL MTL, but could not remember if that was during the summer, or not.

The problem for me is that I'm starting to grind more with GM Synchromesh, now that it is getting colder. I did probably 4 straight autocrosses without grinding into 2nd once, but this last weekend, when it was in the upper 40s, I got a grind. It is also taking a considerable number of miles for the nothiness to go away.

By the time I hit 8K miles on it, I had already changed mine 2 times, and noticed a definite improvement each time.

6000mi. here and seven track events - no problems w/ grinding yet. The only problem I've had is when the transmission fluid gets really hot (I am assuming this because it only happens when I'm on track) there is a tendency for the transmission to not want to go into third gearing when downshifting (from fourth to third -or- from fifth to third). I usually do not force the issue and let the transmission do it's own thing; it usually takes a moment, but it does go in w/o grinding.

I suppose I could try aftermarket fluid because I believe I am close to the thermal limits of the OEM fluid. Maybe I will try BG SyncroShift II later on, I have heard good things about it from the DSM community.

Sorry I can't be of any help.

Anyone tried Neo MTF? It is a full synthetic. I don't know if redline is also. I give it a try if I can find some.
