Should a 2002 S2000 have gear trouble?

I'd like to say a final word on this thread.
First of all: I drive manual transmission cars since 13 years. Of all kind, form Golf GTI to BMW M3, from Ferrari Testarossa to Lotus Elise. And I have never, NEVER had any grinding problem. Did I say NEVER?
I also drove the first S2000 in Italy, which is still owned, since 3 years, by a friend of mine who's a former single seat pilot.
He says that he has the problem, and is related to the gearbox temperature.
This is a problem. It is not a clutch depressure problem. Happens from around 5500 rpm, when the oil is too fluid because of temperature.
I have my car in Honda for the first service. I told them about the problem, and they said that the car performs normally. BUT they used the car for few minutes. Tomorrow I should come back to Honda Service after having warmed the car. I want to see if they will still say that has no problems. I can't believe that II'm forced to be slower in 1-2 change than what I do in the others. Can't be.
Ciao
Ale

To all,
If your car is still under warranty, suggest you get it fixed. Honda knows about the 1st to 2nd gear grinding problem. See Service Bulletin #00-055 on this site.
I have had my S2000 for about a year now. It has approx. 15K miles on it. I delayed taking it in for months, thinking perhaps I was just missing shifts. The transmission apparently has a problem with either the 1st or 2nd gear synchro mechanism.
It is a great car, but Honda needs to solve this problem. My dealer test drove the car, confirmed that I am not imagining the problem, and has ordered parts to fix it under warranty.
Regards,
Mark J.

7500 miles on my '02, driven hard as hell, never heard a peep. i've also never missed a shift and i usually match revs in high stress situations, but i highly doubt that's much of a factor.
my fingers are crossed though, as it sounds like this problem is fairly common.
