Default Squeaking Noise At Initial Throttle

Hello S2KI community,

I recently started hearing a faint squeaking when I initially apply throttle or let off the throttle. The sound resembles a squeaking noise from a door hinge but only for a split second. It only occurs at initial throttle input at low RPMs. Roughly around 1500RPM is when it occurs and it does not produce the noise at higher RPMs. The sound is coming from the middle of the cabin but it's hard to pin point the exact location.

I have attached a video of the sound and the gauge cluster.

Has anyone encountered this issue and is there a solution?

Thanks in advance for any input and let me know there are any questions I can answer.
Richard

Just a couple more things to note. Thanks again for any advise on this issue.

1. The car has 56K miles.
2. Its a 2005 honda s2000.
3. I drove it to work this morning and it didn't produce the noise.

Could be the infamous "intake whistle".

Actually common.

Billman, i know what you are refering too(i couldnt play the video so not 100% if its same sound that i have)... but i belive what he described is another noise. it has higher frequency more related to the motion of the car.
Its a sound similar to rubber door seal squeaking. Comes from shifter area. If the car vibrates due to pot holes or pitted axle cups/tire balance it makes the sound very frequent....
i have two s2000 both RHD(my 3rd in total) and only this new one has this sound its also ap1 but 2003. But higher kms (70k vs 40k miles)
The lower miles s2000 has k&n and i do hear the intake "whistle" which is different sound..

I suspect this squeak is the gearbox shifter boot(not the round one with white ring) rubbing on something...

Current solution is to turn the radio up a bit

Throttle butterfly dirty maybe? Put some brake cleaner on a rag and wipe down the throttle body? Maybe check to see the throttle cable isn't snagging or rubbing somewhere?

I'll check out the throttle body this weekend. So driving the car to work it does not produce the noise, then driving the car home from work it does. Maybe the temperature is causing this to happen.

Metal does expand and contract due to temp differences, but that shouldn't be an issue once up to operating temps.
