I had no idea the thing lit up until I read this thread, and I've had the car for 2 years. Just checked. It's barely noticeable. Only the text changes color really.

 

another curiosity thing, now i'll have to go out tomorrow and see if the start button lights up, this seems like the other thread about if you could get the speedometer to read 1 mph (i had to go out and try it too, and it did do 1 mph)...

 

Its only the text that lights up. Its a faint red color when it works.

 

All years light up! I've owned a 2004 (AP2) and now a 2000 (AP1) they all have a small bulb inside it's probably blown it's a common issue easy fix too.



btw AP1's can display 1mph on the cluster lol!

 

i changed my bulbs last month and it is very easy.took me about 2 hours time.just follow the link above and you will be fine.and yes ap1's the start button lights up.

??? only AP2? are you guys talking about the 'Start Engine' button because my 03' lights up fine. my CH button does not...
