I am not sure if it is the cold weather, or if its time for a new starter. When I start her, it sounds like the starter stays engauged for half a second or so and grinds. This only seems to happen first thing in the morning after a cold start, the rest of the day seems fine. What do you guys think?

Dude the same thing happens to me. Not all the time but I will get cought off guard in the called weather and it pisses me off I wana know how to fix this too.

 

It's a common problem. No fix that I know of.

Maybe a new starter would be your only option

 

sounds weird. maybe starter. never heard of this.

 

try to push start it to see if the problem is there. I can push start my ap2. but not sure if u can push start an ap1.

 

i have the same problem...no known solution that I know of...so i just try to live with it.

 

I concur...I swapped out my starter for a newer one with lesser miles and it still happens during the cold season.
