Default Starting Problems, Help Please!

Hi everybody,

I'm having starting problems and I think it is the start button. I would like everyone's input/experiences since after searching for a while I'm seeing more people say its the clutch sensor and some say bad starter connections.

It started happening a few months ago, one day I press the button and nothing happened. Thought it might be my clutch sensor so I tried pushing the clutch in harder but nothing. No sound no turning, nothing. I tried pressing the start button harder and it started! Ever since then I have to press it quite hard for it to start, sometimes REALLY hard. Sometimes i'll press it then it'll turn the engine the cut off, and it can turn on/cut off 2-3 times in each each time I try to start. Once in a while it'll go back to normal where I slightly press the button and the engine will start.

The car has 177k miles now, think the button contacts might be bad? Have anyone had this issue before? How can I go about isolating the problem and being sure it is the start button? Thanks for your help!

Might be the mechanism in the start buttom. So swap it out for a new one. They aren't that expensive.
