I personally dont think its the torque sensor(altough test it when you get the chance), there are many dtc's for the torque sensor one of them would come on. What conditions are you driving in when this happens? making alot of slow turns, driving on highway, getting out of your driveway? Either way to me it sounds like you are overloading your EPS motor, that would cause your steering to go soft and hard(depending on how overloaded it is,more stress less steering input harder to turn etc.). Also if this is the case there would be no EPS DTC codes poping up, just random steering problems.

This is just my .02 please dont take it as a diagnosis. Goodluck sir.

The condition when it normally happens is as follows:
7:00 am walk out the door on a fine hot humid Florida morning.
7:01 start the car, put in reverse, back out of driveway at -.5 mph, turn wheel to get on street
That's it.
no codes, not lights.

WTF?

Like I said, the dealer I went too took 15 minutes to figure out the car had EPS and not HPS.

OH PLEASE, someone help before it goes for good!!

Thanks everyone for your help.

problem now:

Coming out of my driveway hard turning then really soft and shaking
Driving at low speeds same think hardens up then lets up
when coming into a turn like a around about off a highway (doing about 45-55) hardens and then lets up.

I might take my rack out and take it apart.

also just noticed when i am parked and i start to turn my wheel left or right it will start to shake and when i let go of the wheel it shakes really bad and sometimes moves by itself to the direction i am turning it while still shaking really bad.
