steering problem....
...and who's to say the same thing won't go wrong with a new rack?
I'm with Spectacle on this one.
I'd rather deal with the intermittant problem than deal with swapping the rack and STILL dealing with the same problem.
By the way, a little more info.
start up in the morning, steering SUPER slow, no shakey, no hard/ soft feel.
Start steering faster (whether in place or moving) - the shakes start and it goes NUTS.
TI seems the problem is either brought on or exacerbated by the faster steering input by the driver.

Are there any updates on this issue? My 01 just went over 100,000 miles and started exhibited the shakey steering wheel as I back out of the garage and make some slow hard turns to clear obstabcles as I leave the driveway. I know I could replace the steering rack, but would still like to know the root cause.
Thanks
Thanks
I beleive it's the TS on the rack. It may be a mechanical problem, but I doubt it. I do know that it gets worse in the cold, so it may be a tolerance issue somewhere. I was able to adjust the grab point with a neutral position relearn, so that's why I think it's the TS. I really want to tear it apart, but it's too much work for me right this minute.
I honestly beleive it's a defect, and wouldn't be surprised if a lot of owners have this problem as the miles add up.
