i was installing my x brace andi stripped the thread in the hole. i wasnt using much for at all, just hand tightening it. what should i do? how can you repair it? my dad used to be a mechanic and said that i needed to get a rethreading tool that is one size bigger than the original thread and rethread the hole. that would require me to use a larger bolt also. is there any other way???
help me please!

 

Before you drill it out and use a larger sized tap...

Try using the correct size tap for the hole to see if it will clean the threads up enough to allow the bolt to thread in.

Like I said in your earlier post. You need a Helicoill kit, it will allow you to use the exact same bolt.

That is the proper way to fix a stripped bolt hole.

You need to figure out the thread size and pitch before you purchase the helicoil kit.
