Default Stripped Bold for X-Brace...HELP

Last night i decided to take off my x brace to torque it to the right spec, which i didn't do the first time i installed it.
When i took it off, one of the bolts was caring some metal in the threads. So i probably cross threaded it. But its on the "strut?" that's attatched to the car, where the threads are messed up. So now the bolt wont thread back through.

If anyone has any help they can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Parker

The first thing I would do is try and "re-tap" the hole with a tap and die set that you can pick up at sears, you need to determine the correct thread size - we know it's metric just figure out what tap you need! If considerable damage was done than you may need to go the "heli-coil" route!

Yes, you're best bet is to "re-tap" the thread. The Thread size is 10mm with 1.25 pitch. (10x1.25mm). The torque to these bolts are 28lbs/ft. Hope that helps.

I had the same thing happen. I drilled it out to the next tap size and retapped it. No big deal; it worked like a charm.

Today i tried to re-tap it. I started to go, but i wasn't sure if i was exactly centered, so i started for a while, and pulled it out, cause i dont want to mess things up even worse.

Should i take it in to a shop, and have them do it?

I had the write tools, i was just threading it with a Cresent wrench.

Thanks for the help.
