Default Synchromesh Transmission Fluid

Im using AC Delco Synchromesh Transmission Fluid which is the same as the GM Synchromesh Transmission Fluid.

The question i have is does the bottle have to say Friction Modified also?

Yes, it's the "friction modified" that most people use. There is no advantage to using the GMSM that is NOT FM. Even with the FM product, it has been suggested that it doesn't last that long. Actually, unless you are having problems with your tranny, there isn't really any need to try anything different than the Honda MTF.

Currently, I've got a little over 14k miles on my GMSFM oil change. Changed it at 13k and have 27.5k on the car now.

So far, no problems at all. The tranny has a little notchiness, I wouldn't call it a grind, when cold. When warm, it's smooth as silk! I'm happy!

Drive Safe,
Steve R.

WHOA! It shouldn't cost you that much for two quarts of the stuff. I just bought some yesterday from the local Cadillac dealer, and it was $12/qt. I'd check your supplier.

I don't know how long it is supposed "to last", but I have 11K on mine (GMSMFM)now and it is starting to feel like it needs changed again. I was hoping to stretch it to 15K, but I'll probably change it out soon.
