If my motor was completely stock but was considering going FI, could I order the one that's 'tuned' (let's call it) for FI and it be perfectly okay in the stock motor for the life of the car in case I changed my mind?

Yes no problem. GenX covers all stock and fi. GenX-4 covers aftermarket cam application and decked cylinder head or thinner head gasket.

Not too sure, BUT the fact that there has been no announcement of any change publicly of the potential of your tensioner failing catastrophically says a whole lot.... Billman has ALWAYS publicly announced when revisions were made, etc.....

I do not believe it to be name calling. If there is a weakness in the product then it is fair to bring it to light to the mfgr can address and potential issues. How many miles was on that TCT? The pin and springs look identical to the ballade.

IMO if it was Billman's, I believe he would immediately announce his findings and offer instant solutions to protect motors.

Would really like Ballade to get in here. I want to know what the upgraded version of his actually is.
I remember seeing some people expressing concern if they needed to change the v1 out and the response was something like.....if it is still good, there is no need to buy the revised version.

In a pervious post IIRC Ballade said that the only change was cosmetic.

Hmm....
This is one of the worst product reviews I've seen on here.

Why?
It's all words.
Why are there no (detailed) photo's of this "thing of beauty" that show the difference between it and the OEM unit?
Is that a secret?
It is allowed to spend $ on it and install in it your engine but it's not allowed to post photo's of it?
Is that part of the deal when you buy one?
I really do not get it.
The only photo's in this post are of "other tensioners", but why?
It looks like they are only there to show the superiority of the part that is reviewed.
There is nothing to compare them with though.
Kinda useless to post them in the first place if you ask me.

So please, really.. please.. prove me wrong and post a link to photo's of the part that is reviewed.
That is what's a review is all about, IMO.

Btw.. to name a product Generation X (assuming the X stands for 10) sounds like trial-and-error engineering.
Trial and error engineering is not always bad and sometimes it's the only way to go when the systems or parts you try to engineer are too complex and they all interact with eachother.
So you just start with building something to see where you end up, and take it from there.
In this case - with the TCT - this is not really necessary as someone allready did a lot of engineering for you = the OEM unit.
So you start with the OEM unit and try to find out how it works.
Then you look for the difference(s) between a "failed" OEM unit and a new OEM unit (that fixed the failure).
If any of the diffences you found explain the failure you know what to change.
If it really takes X times to do this.. almost sounds like you don't know how the OEM unit works in the first place.
And it would be better to call your product Gen X+1 too..
It's not that it was designed from the ground up.. now was it?

As for the publicly announced revisions....
What revisions are they?
Or are we talking about changing Gen VIII to IX in a signature?
Yeah.. that's really usefull.

All in all this review just looks like a fanboy / brown nose post.
No offence...
Obviously.

This was more a review as to why I choose Billman tensioners, not a review on the tensioner itself. My pictures of the "other tensioners" are my sole reason for siding with Billman tensioners. Not to mention the tech support and willingness to help that Billman provides and has provided for every tensioner customer he has.

Fanboy? Hardly.

Brown Nose? Nope.

No Offense? None taken, but your "tact" if you want to call it that, in addressing members posts is sub-par at best.

Obviously.
