Default Ticking From Engine When Reving

Hey guys, I've noticed a ticking noise from under the hood when I hit around 3k revs or so. Ticking doesn't occur when its under or past 3k revs. I've gotten a valve adjustment and that got rid of most of the ticking but not this one. Any idea what it might be? Car is 2000 170k miles on a rebuilt engine.

Can't answer your question but I'd recommend not driving your car until you get it figured out as it could be serious.

I'm in the same situation. Consider pulling your oil pan. Good luck.

I would like to hear what someone has to say. Mine does this too. I hope it isn't because of engine damage.

Could be many things. Best to get a stethoscope to determine where the ticking is coming from. Exhaust leaks can produce a "ticking" sound. The injectors in these engines are quite noisy as well. If everything checks out (compression, leak down, no CEL), I wouldn't fret over it, probably just a normal, noisy F20.

This has been going on for a while and I've been driving it and also tracked it with this condition, no problems so far. I'll try to not drive it as often as this isn't my daily. Ill also try to take a video later on.

Need more information. A video would definitely be helpful. If it is only occuring at that rev, then I would presume you have something rattling more than ticking. Check around your engine bay, below your car and in the rear of the car to make sure nothing is loose. How long has the ticking been occuring and what did you notice when it first started?
