Default Time for a valve adjustment?

Just wanted to introduce myself,

I started out with a 1989 Acura Legend LSV6, then went through 3 VW's (Jetta VR6, GTI 1.8t, GTI VR6), and just recently purchased a 2001 S2000 in Silverstone with Black/Red Interior. I purchased it off of the original owner with just 4,900 miles on it.

Now the question is, will the car be due for a valve adjustment anytime soon due to it's age? If not, when should I expect to have to do this?

Thanks

Recommended service interval is 105,000 miles or on condition if the engine is noisy.

I've heard of people branding themselves, but I'm not going to do that either.

Get a service manual and a feeler gauge and see for yourself. Also check the retainers and get to know your car.

time has little or nothing to do with the valve adjustment. It is good till 105k as said above. Except under Harsh service as my honda stealership put it. But when noise is heard its either the tension or the valves need adjustment

I have the same issue/question. I had a hot start ticking/sewing machine type issue, so I went ahead and replaced the TCT. Well, the noise is better, but not gone. I am thinking that I may need a valve adjustment. I have ~64k on the car now. I know these valvetrains are noisy, but I think something may be out of whack. What do you guys think? I can only hear the noise while idling.
