timing chain ap1

Default timing chain ap1

Would like some advice guys. Should I be buying myself a new timing chain tensioner heard of people doing this to be safe I thought you guys would be the best to ask is it common ?

Replace your timing chain tensioner when it starts making noise. It will be noticeable. No reason to spend money unnecessarily.

Agreed, its not an uncommon failure, but its not a ticking time bomb either. Ive never experience anything but a quick 1-2sec rattle on cold start on a different motor, to know that it was starting to be an issue. I drove the car that way for a long time before I killed the motor from an other unrelated FI issue. But my current engine has almost 40k miles on it now and no indication of TCT issue yet. Some get lucky and some less. I will deal with it when it becomes apparent.
