Come on Billman.. Fixing engine noises by ear, modifying TCT's to work better than OEM, and now Guesstimating where a piston would fly after removing the TCT? Come on.. What don't you know about the S!!!

Just to follow up... Since I have my new TCT in place, is there a problem with Mobile One synthetic oil? I have been using Mobile 1 since I first bought the car, but I read a thread that suggested that this oil is bad for the TCT.

Is there any truth to this?

Many owners have shifted away from Mobil One due to the TCT problem.
It's a good oil but it appears the S2000 TCT just doesn't last with it.

What do you recommend? Honda,Castrol? I have 168000 miles on the car. My mechanic says he's never seen anything like it...still silver inside. Those cool cylinder liners have a lot to do with it I'm sure.

BTW...thanks for the help Sideways. You were soooo right on 2 counts

That fear of the unknown is always present when delving into the S2000 for the first time.

Castrol has taken me over a million miles with out problems. You could probably use a high mileage oil.

I'm currently and for the last 10 years running Amsoil 10/30 in the S.
