Replacing it def makes sense I guess, as AP2's can be found for fairly cheap. If you determine the tranny is making the noise, I would still advise against driving it. You could very well end up stranded, but also it could cause damage to other things, like your clutch. I've never seen a mainshaft bearing completely destroyed (and the damage it does), because people usually change it before getting to that point..
Life, its a risky game, your lucky to get out alive

Thanks for the help, now if I could just have you come over and do the trans swap i'd be a happy camper

I'm for now

Be sure to let us know what you find when you pull it apart. Or how long it lasts before it blows up

Haha.. np. Good luck man. Just a hint.. if it start getting pretty loud, you might not want to drive it..

Before swapping your trans, I need to get off my ass and yank my tranny to install an AP1 flywheel.. Hard to justify yanking the tranny just to swap a flywheel..

Hey guys, just an update for you. Last we spoke, that evening i went for a drive and my tranny took a dump. Just started progressively getting louder, making a real racket at idle and especially when taking off in gear. I was lucky I babied the car home, was only about 6 miles away. So that didn't last long Got a good deal on a ap2 trans with 35k miles for $800 shipped. Having it installed by a local Honda/Acura shop next week. Quoted me $700. I'm having them replace the wearable disk insert on my Findanza Flywheel and put in the SOS sport clutch which is good for 300trq/400whp. I've got full ap2 drivetrain now ie: diff/trans/f22. Should be great for several years, which is good, becuase that's how long its going to take me to pay off my credit card after this ordeal. Man I picked an expensive hobby

Every part fails eventually, I'm just glad I was able to drive it home. The trans had 150k hard miles on it, about 50k of those was boosted. Did ok in my book, about all you can expect.
