same. the fluid drains out of the pump, just set it down in your oil drain pan for a minute until the majority of it seeps out.

I thought the sulfur based rear diff fluid attacks transmissions and kills synchros... I'd just brake clean that stuff really good and make it dry before reusing it...

I use seperate pumps for the fact that differential fluids contain compounds that are not good for transmission synchros. So I have one for the tranny and one for the diff. I'd rather not spend the time to clean each out after each use, so I have two pumps kept in plastic bags after they are used. With the small quantities used in the diff and tranny I'd rather not get any mixture of the fluids. It's probably a small point but I don't like the idea of mixing.

I just run the old transmission fluid through the pump and drain as much as possible out before pumping the new stuff in. Think about it, the internals of your tranny are coated with the old fluid so it won't hurt to rinse your pump out with it.

yeah anything to get the few drops of diff. fluid out of the pump prior to pumping fluid into the tranny is good !

A little GL4 residue wont hurt the diff, so do the transmission first. Then pump the GL5 into the diff.

I just throw out the pump when done, they are only $5 at autozone. How many times a year do you change those fluids, once at the most.

I use the same for both. take a beer break between and let any fluid leak out. the amount of residual fluid will not hurt anything. why would you throw out a perfectly good pump?
