In the ongoing challenge to find a rollbar for my 2002, I decided to go the complete custom route. I was not satisfied with what I had already seen, and the idea of having one developed from scratch with the skill sets of an extraordinary cage builder was a thrill to me. This will really make my car customized now.
The purpose of the bar is to allow me into driving schools with my chapter of the BMW CCA. I have over 10 years of school experience with my club and am now an instructor. It was finally time to retire my CRX-Si, (the source of my handle name) and the S2000 was the perfect solution. I have the hardtop but that is not good enough for the rules our chapter has established so I knew I would need a bar going into this.
My #1 objective was safety, my #2objective was to not rip out the interior trim or modify the OEM seat belts, my #3 objective was to make sure the hardtop and the soft top still worked fine.
I think it's dumb to leave the stock hoops there, they are (scary) measly bolted on components and can only get in your way with an aftermarket cage. See what davepk did to his rollbar covers to keep them on the car with the bitterman rollbar.
