Tuning of a VAFC
i think if you review previous posts, on a stock 00/01 car, you can get some HP increase. for 02/03, there will be less of an increase from VAFC, because Honda got a little more aggressive somewhere on the ECU. Pete ('02) and I ('00) showed different spark advance figures across the whole range. unsure of whether MAP ratios changed as well, but i think they did, just have no way of proving it.
some people like having the "kick" of vtec, i look at having it kick at transition as meaning i have missed power lower in the rpm range. previous posts have gone into changing vtec transition point lower to start getting the power from it sooner. too low and the engine is not ready for it and overall power will suffer. this is why you need to shell out the cash for some dyno time, you see what the a/f ratios are, where it can be safely changed and where the power is being developed.
as you start adding mods that make the engine breath better (I/H/E) or stock SC setup, VAFC lets you make sure you are getting better power while maintaing safe A/F ratios
for modded SC (smaller pulleys, larger injectors, etc) and turbo apps, i do not think the VAFC gives enough options, which is why i am trying out the emanage/e01 route.

F1s2000, no. it does not.
comptech has an ESM, but that is only used to prevent ECU from seeing the boost. does nothing for A/F, ignition, etc.
it was designed to run on an otherwise stock motor.

My car is almost stock, and I found that I benefited by lowering my VTEC engagement point to 5600 or 5700 RPMs.
