Do you have an aftermarket alarm? For my S, my doors never lock when i turn on my engine with the doors opened or closed. I would have to lock it manually if i want to lock the door when im in the car.

I leave my keys in the car when it's in the garage and have never had it autolock on me. It will aoutolock if I use the remote to unlock the door and then don't open it within 30 +/- seconds.

i had this problem a bunch of times...you may want to check the little rubber encased button that meets your door when you close the door. when it's free, the car knows that the door is open. when depressed, the car knows the door is closed. my button is messed up, so sometimes when i open the door with the keys/lights on, the indicator sound doesn't trigger. If i do that when opening the door from locked, it doesn't know i opened the door and relocks it. Funny thing, one time the indicator didn't sound in the morning that my lights were still on when i got to work. We had a bbq at work and i didn't touch my car all day (11 hrs). bye bye to the battery.
