You're right, just gotta keep going down the line until we've got all of them resolved. I think it's about time this is gonna start to get going.
Now that's the right attitude. Count me in if you can get it at a reasonable price and timing.

This sounds interesting Kane....I was just considering purchasing the Comptech-reinforced unit recently, but what you've proposed sounds promising, as long as it holds up and if the price is right.

OK here's one question that doesn't look like it's been addressed...

What about heat dissipation?

Our existing diffs heat up quite quickly and some would say are inefficiently cooled. This is why some racers add additional cooling solutions. With more power to the diff one would expect greater heat build up. For drag racing the heat build up probably isn't going to be an issue(i.e. you have enough cool down time) However for those that track the car this can be a real issue. Does this new diff address any heat related issues?

Quaife are in the world of gearboxes & diff's I wasn't aware you had them in America, I approached them over here about a year ago but they weren't interested in doing one for the S2000 so this is great!

I haven't got my car back from the tuners yet so will probably need one of these if/when I bust my stock diff.

I have thought of that. IMO and only an opinion/theory. One of the main reasons for the extreme heat build up with the diff units is that when the caps move around giving excess play on the ring and pinion gears the backlash changes. That increases the total friction greatly. Since the whole point of the housing is to hold everything in place, that should keep the friction down a bit.

I was going to tell quaife to add extra fins all over the outside (maybe even on the inside). The best way to get rid of the heat would be to have a fully aluminum (not cast since cast is composed of so many other materials) differential cap with extended fins. At this point we're not sure if we will need another cap or not. My guess is that we will. When they tell me that we will use a new one, i'm gonna make that thing look like krazik's wing with the fins on that thing

They are still not interested in it. I had to pull a couple of strings on my side to get this done. As a matter of fact, almost no one wants to make anything for the S2000 as far as performance parts go. When I try to contact about body parts, they want me to rush in. Kinda shows you what people think of the S2000 community.

One thing all of you really need to understand is that this can take many months to make. Or just a few. I'm not out here to bring out something that wont last and have failures. If it was like that, i wouldn't use it on my car. Hence the reason why I never bought the comptech "reinforced" diff housing. There is no set date on this thing and to be honest, I dont mind when quaife tells me they wanna fully test this thing in every which way. Since honda didn't do this, we had this problem. I'm not gonna let that happen a second time.

is the oil volume going to be the same kane?

If the diff holds up to abuse, I can foresee a lot of excited drifters
It would be nice to increase the oil volume to dissipate this extra heat for these sort of activities too This may upset the car weight balance a bit but prob not that much for most of us since we pack a few exta pounds under the bonnet.
