Arrow V-AFC 2 install issue

Hi all,

this afternoon I plugged my V-AFC2 using a boomslang harness in MY00.

After a few minutes doing the INITIAL setup the CEL came on.

My settings are currently as follow:

DATA INITIALIZED as per manual instruction to have no fuel corrections.
SENSORS 6IN 6OUT
VTEC TYPE: 1 #Cylinders: 4 Throtle type: Arrow up

I have the following issues:

CEL always on even after reset (using the fuse removal during a min)
VTEC does not engage at rpm stop raising at VTEC engagement.
VTEC stock info are not learnt by the VAFC2

Any idea??? (I double check the boomslang harness and found it in accordance with the VAFC manual except that VTM cable was wired where not applicable to the S2K)

Thx in advance for your expertise.

It might be a defective unit or something in wiring could be messed up. When I bought MY01 it came with the VAFC II already installed. It was causing some misfire codes because whoever had it before me messed up the wiring. Once I removed the VAFC there were no more misfires.

What codes are you getting?

Thx for the reply, unfortunately I am not able to tell the code.

I bought the V-AFC2 used but the strange point is that although I have the above mentioned problems all of the input can be properly monitored on the V-AFC.

Throttle, pressure, rpm and so on looks OK.

I will try the following tomorow:

Plug the boomslang harness in between the ECU and the car harness but instead of plugin the V-afc I will shunt the pressure signal and the Vtec wires.

If the cel come again, then it's the boomslang harness faulty.
If the cel stays off, then V-AFC is certainly faulty or unproperly set (this I doubt as I initialize the setting).

Tell me your position on my analyze.

Sounds like a reasonable thing to do. I hope someone with more electronics experience can chime in. This will definately help you narrow down where the problem is coming from.

check the connections on the boomslang harness itself, they may not be making a good connection.

Hi, did you experienced something like this or heard about it?

Continue of my story,

this afternoon I tested the continuity of every single wire of the boomslang harness (pin in to pin out).
100% fine but I also performed the following test:

plug the boomslang harness in between the ECU and vehicule harness + shunt the VTEC wire going in/out of the VAFC as well as the MAP wire.
In other words, I just tried to test the boomslang harness as a spool.

Guess what? Although I check all of the connections the CEL appear a couple of seconds after turning the key !!!!!

HOW (after having check 100% connection), could the CEL pop up?

So any advise/tip is welcome.
Chears,
Nico.

I was just wondering why my question stayed without answer?

1 - My english cannot be understood?
2 - You guys dislike frenchies ?
3 - Nobody here knows the reason of this troubleshoot?
4 - Some of you know but do not wish to help?

Do not hesitate to vote 1,2,3,4.

Cheers,
Nico.

Very odd. But then people clap in amazement when I plug devices into wall sockets, so I'm not the best at electrical troubleshooting.

Try testing your boomslang on another s2k...see if it throws a code. Perhaps you have a problem with the car's wiring harness.
